  • Increase level of Moscow quality room supply in 2015 to overshoot the same rate in 2014 by 40%;
  • 2017 is expected to show the most significant capacity increase with about 5 000 new rooms to enter the market;
  • The market seems to be very conservative about planning new hotel projects.

According to Cushman & Wakefield Russia 4 quality hotels with total room capacity of more than 900 units are expected on Moscow market by the end of 2015. Among others, Doubletree by Hilton Moscow Vnukovo Airport (432 rooms) and the boutique-hotel at Tverskaya street with room capacity of 110 units are on the starting blocks. This year 3 projects have already entered the market with contribution of 661 rooms.

If the developers keep up with the plans, level of room capacity increase during the critical 2015 will overshoot the same index of 2014 by 40%. According to the figures released by C&W Hospitality and Tourism department 2015 will bring to market about 1 600 new rooms, while 2014 resulted in about 1 150 new units.

Preliminary forecast of C&W defines that 2016 and 2017 will show the record growth with more than 3 000 and 5 000 new rooms entering the market. The trends and developments in 2018 and 2019 are vague as developers are very uncertain about their plans.
